La Galerie Orange est fière de présenter l’exposition collective L’artiste et son poète, commissionnée par Louis-Pierre Bougie.
L’artiste et son poètea été conçue à l’image d’un grand livre d’artiste, où le texte et l’œuvre visuelle jouent un rôle aussi fusionnel qu’autonome. Commissaire invité et artiste représenté par la Galerie Orange, Louis-Pierre Bougie a sélectionné une quinzaine d’artistes (graveurs, peintres, sculpteurs) dont la seule contrainte était d’œuvrer étroitement avec un poète de leur choix. Il en a résulté une étonnante et troublante complicité tantôt avouée par le dépouillement des œuvres et des textes, tantôt soulignée par leur densité et leur charge émotive.
Parce qu’il s’agit d’une pratique courante entre artistes et écrivains que d’entrecroiser leur créativité, mais surtout, parce que cet amour partagé est présent tout au long de la carrière et de l’œuvre gravée de Louis-Pierre Bougie, cette exposition s’imposait aux mains de ce dernier à la manière d’un hommage, d’une ode à la beauté et à l’inopiné. Bougie a collaboré à plus d’une vingtaine de livres d’artistes, ce qui implique la rencontre de centaine d’artistes visuels et d’écrivains d’ici et d’ailleurs. L’aventure se poursuit en grandeur nature à travers le pairage suivant : Claudia Bernal/Jean Morisset, Devorah Boxer/Dylan Thomas, Louis-Pierre Bougie/Pierre Ouellet, Michel Casavant/Paul Chamberland, Jean-Michel Cropsal/Thomas Mainguy, Violette Dionne/Diane-Ischa Ross, René Donais/Benoit Jutras, Pierre Martin Égide/Léopold Sedar Senghor, Charlotte Fauteux/Marie Ginette Bouchard, Bill Fick/Stefanie Kendall, François-Xavier Marange/Samuel Beckett, Léo Rosshandler/Michel van Schendel, Denis Saint-Pierre/Alexis Lefrançois, Gabor Szilasi/Violaine Forest, François Vincent/Vincent-Charles Lambert.
Tous les textes qui accompagnent les œuvres seront lus soit par leurs auteurs ou leurs artistes, lors du vernissage le jeudi 20 janvier, entre 19h et 20h.

Galerie Orange is proud to present a group show entitled L’artiste et son poète, curated by Louis-Pierre Bougie.
L’artiste et son poète was conceived with the artist book in mind, where the text and the visual art work play roles that are fused yet autonomous to one another. The invited curator and Galerie Orange represent artist, Louis-Pierre Bougie, selected fifteen artists (engravers, painters and sculptors) where their only constraint was to work closely with the poet of their choice. As a result the exhibition brings together an astonishing and disconcerting complicity, at times avowed by the sobriety of the art works and texts, and other moments underlined by their density and emotional charge.
This exhibition consists in and of the current practices between artists and writers whose creative works intersect, this particularly shared love is present throughout the career and work of Louis-Pierre Bougie. The exhibition, in the hands of this artist, is a form of homage, an ode to beauty and the unexpected. Bougie has worked on more than twenty artist’s books, which involved meeting and collaborating with over a hundred different writers and visual artists locally and abroad. All the texts accompanying the visual works will be read by their author or represented artist during the opening night on Thursday January 20th, from 7 to 8pm.
